Symbiosis Law School, Pune piloted and enriched by the vision of Dr. S.B. Mujumdar, was established in 1977 under the illustrious banner of Symbiosis Society. Since 2007, SLS, Pune has been ranked top 10 amongst more than 1000 Law Schools in India by the India Today-Nielsen survey, ranked 5th in the India Ranking 2024; 6th in India Ranking 2023: Law (NIRF 2023), Government of India. SLS Pune has been awarded All India Rank 1 and in the category of 'Top Supreme Law Schools' by the CSR-GHRDC Law Schools Survey 2022, 2023. SLS Pune has been awarded as the Best Law College by CSR in 2022, 2023, 2024 and ranked number 1 rank in Top 50 Private Law Colleges in India by IIRF 2022, 2023, 2024 Law category.
SLS Pune also received the Best College Award amongst top 3 in Virtual ‘IPTSE awards & IPTSE Conclave’ dated 28 April 2021 during the eve of World IP Day. This stature is attained through its various Programme such as 5-year integrated Undergraduate Programme like Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws [BA. LL.B. (Hons.)] and Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Laws [BBA. LL.B. (Hons.)], 3-year LL.B. and One-year LL.M Programme with various specializations (10 Specialisation). SLS, Pune also successfully administers one Diploma Programme (Diploma in International Business Law) & Certificate Courses and ‘Development of a Master Level Programme:' International Law and Forced Migration Studies’. It has been a partner in the EURASIA Project funded under Key Action 2 Capacity Building in the Field of Higher Education of the Erasmus + Programme (2017-2021). The project developed the capacity of faculty members for European Studies by faculty mobility and by developing 28 courses focused on European Legal Studies and incorporating the best practices of European and Asian Universities. The institute also houses the 21st Teach Skills Lab and CCP_Law Lab. It also holds partnerships under DAAD - A New Passage to India with Leibniz University, Hannover and Brunswick European Law School, Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences, Germany and is a part of the DAAD programme with Berlin School of Economics and Law.
SLSP has established Symbiosis Centre for Advanced Legal Studies and Research (SCALSAR). It is the umbrella for research, quality publications, government interface, hosting scholars in residence, interdisciplinary legal studies and research projects, training teachers and designing training modules. It has 3 research clusters: Science Technology Innovation Law, Rule of Law in Context and Comparative Law. Every year SCALSAR organizes an International Research Conference which has become popular as SYMROLIC representing Rule of Law with Indian and Global perspectives, aligning it with the SIU’s vision of an interdisciplinary conference and connecting to different fields such as that of Innovation, Science, Technology, Human Behaviour, Global Policy and Governance.
The purpose of SCALSAR under the Faculty of Law SIU, Symbiosis Law School Pune is to centre- stage research, encourage quality publications, act as think-tank to government, host scholars in residence, undertake interdisciplinary legal studies and research projects, training teachers and designing training modules. SCALSAR contributes under three verticals viz. Science technology and Innovation Law, Rule of Law in Context and Comparative Law. In the last one year, the Centre has published more than 65 research papers in SCOPUS listed journals / WoS indexed journals by the SLS Pune faculty members and some PG / PhD students, now totalling up to 751 publications. Balancing the social agenda, the community legal care centre of SLS Pune is engaged in the Prison Advocacy Programme of Mumbai High Court through Prison Clinic, Mental hospital clinic in collaboration with District Legal Aid Services Authority and has clinics in villages and inner city.
SLS, Pune offered 2-year LL.M Programme from 2003-2013. It is one of the pioneer institutions
in the country to initiate the One-Year LL.M Program in 2013. The post-graduate program is
offered through the Center for Postgraduate Legal Studies (CPLS), with an objective to create
research-centric intellectuals and academicians. There is an emphasis on an interdisciplinary
approach in the study of law and research orientation underlining the relevance of research
methodology with utmost technical precision and scientific sophistication. The students have an
option of a cafeteria approach in terms of specialization, cross specialization courses
combining innovation, cutting edge legal acumen and theoretical insights.
With emphasis on research and publication under the umbrella of SCALSAR (Symbiosis Center for
Advanced Legal Studies and Research), faculty and students are engaged in publishing the results

Admission process comprises of the Symbiosis All India Admission Test (AIAT) and an Online Personal Interaction (PI). AIAT will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode at respective centres.

Admission to all the courses and programmes at Symbiosis International University (SIU) are strictly on merit basis based on the criteria and processes prescribed by the University and assessment of individual performance in Symbiosis National Aptitude Test [SNAP] for Postgraduate Studies and Symbiosis Entrance Test [SET] for Undergraduate Studies.
All aspirants / parents are hereby notified that some individuals / organisations are giving / making false and misleading advertisements / claims in newspapers, websites, social media platforms that they can ensure admission to Symbiosis International University and also charging heavy amount for the same.
In this regard, SIU requests the aspirants / parents to refrain from entering into any transaction with such elements. SIU has not appointed any individual / agency / organisation to make such assurance on its behalf. It is a matter of Policy that SIU does not charge capitation fee for admission from students and this is widely and prominently published as well on all the relevant places like prospectus, website, SNAP Booklet, SET Booklet etc.
Despite this Notice, if any aspirant / parents still proceeds with or enters into transaction with such elements, they would be doing so at their own risk and cost.
