Press Report Capsule Course on Medical Law, Patient Safety and Ethics: A Comparison of Contemporary Issues 8th – 12th May, 2017 Symbiosis Law School, Pune

Symbiosis Law School, Pune in collaboration with Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences (SIHS) and Core India Institute of Legal Medicine (CIILM) Pune organized a Capsule Course on “Medical Law, Patient Safety and Ethics: A Comparison of Contemporary Issues” from 8th May to 12th May 2017. Various experts from different parts of the world and within the country delivered lectures and engaged in discussions with multiple stakeholders from the legal and medical fields during the span of these five days.

The Capsule Course commenced on 8th May by a brief inaugural session with representatives of SLS Pune, SIHS and CIILM, along with resource persons for the day. The following three days witnessed foreign and Indian resource persons delivering lectures on diverse topics ranging from ‘Global Public Health’ to ‘Patient Safety in India’, and deliberating on the theme from varied dimensions. The last day of the Capsule Course, i.e. 12th May, was dedicated for assessment of the participants.

The capsule course saw participation of over 25 students of legal and medical backgrounds coming from within and outside Pune. The list of resource persons included renowned names such as Prof. John Tingle (UK), Prof. Dr. Brenda Linda Gibson (UK), Prof. Kris Gledhill (Auckland). Indian experts from legal and medical fields such as Dr. Neeraj Nagpal, Dr. Nikhil Datar, Adv. Milind Salunkhe, Dr.Arun Gadre, Dr. Ravindra Ghooi, Dr. (Maj.) Parameshwar Kumar, Dr. Santosh Kakade and Dr.Kavita Narayan were also part of this enriching capsule course, which was a unique initiative by Symbiosis Law School, Pune.
