2. New academic programmes initiated (UG and PG):
Ø Modified LL.M. Programme with five specializations: Business Law, Intellectual Property Laws, Constitutional & Criminal Law, Labour Laws and International / Global Legal Studies with Inter-disciplinary approach
Ø New Diploma & Certificate Programs are value addition with focus on emerging areas (IPR, International Business Law, Para Legal Services & Mergers & Acquisitions), Clinical Legal Education in addition to existing Diploma Programs.
Ø Offered Ph. D. Classes for Compulsory Coursework for the registered students of SIRI, under the Faculty of Law, SIU.

3. Innovations in curricular design and transaction:
Ø Monthly review of teaching, scheduling small group learning, remedial teaching.
Ø Introduced Practical Skills including Legal reasoning skills, IT skills and Ethics training as part of curriculum in each year of BA/BBA LL.B. Programme Legal Methods in 1st Semester, Research focus, Effective Communication Skills
Ø Introduced compulsory moots in all years of the BA/BBA LL.B. program
Ø Teacher orientation to world class method with Learner-centered methodology – reflecting critical thinking skills using ICT in a convergent manner
Ø Introduced Quiz Club, Rotaract Club & Civil Service Study Circle(IAS)
Ø Curriculum review of UG & PG was done internally by the faculty on 6th December 2010 and then by the University on 28th and 29th December 2010. Prof. Nilima Chandiramani, Principal, Nari Gursahani law College, Thane and Mr. Sudhir Sharma, Deputy Director, ICWA, New Delhi were invited for the same.
4. Inter-disciplinary programmes started:
Ø LL.M. in Business law offered with Inter-disciplinary approach with optional course in International Law and Science, IPR, Technology and Law, Labour Laws, Global Legal studies with cafeteria approach.
Ø Inter-Institute Credit Transfer programme started within sister institutes of other faculty within SIU.
5. Examination reforms implemented:
Ø Internal Assessment plan, schedule, compliance, review in mid-term.
Ø Vigilance by individual faculty is done through Coordination and Scrutiny for paper setting
Ø CGPA System is now made applicable to I, II, III & IV Year BA/BBA LL.B. and LL.M.I & II Year
Ø Two Office Assistants have been assigned and identified as examination Coordinators. They are involved in maintaining
Ø examination related documents and data and also involved in coordination of paper setting.
Ø Two faculty members have been assigned the CAP activities.
Ø Internal Squad consisting of faculty members is being created for observing and to check the unfair means, if any, during the progress of the examination.
Ø Student feedback taken during examinations is used for the improvement of the examination system.

Ø Dr. Shashikala Gurpur has been appointed as the Part-Time member of Law Commission of India and as Advisory Board member of School of Law, IGNOU.
Ø Prof. S. C. Hajare and Prof. C. J. Rawandale, our erstwhile Deputy Director, have been conferred with Ph. D. Degree.
Ø Received ICCR Chair Professor Fellowship, through Govt. of India in collaboration with Leibniz University of Hannover, Germany. Prof. Abhijit Vasmatkar received the prestigious Fellowship. He is currently in Leibniz University of Hannover, Germany for six months from November 2010 to May 2011.
Ø Under the DAAD – German Academic Exchange Service Program, Prof. Asawari Abhyankar and Dr. S. C. Hajare visited Leibniz University of Hannover, Germany for one week in May 2010 and November 2010 respectively.
Ø Erasmus Mundus Research Scholarship granted to Dr. Bindu S. Ronald for the duration of three months from 12th April 2011 to July 2011 in Leibniz, University of Hannover, Germany.
Ø Prof. Rupal Rautdesai has been selected for the DAAD grant for the year 2011. She will be visiting Leibniz University of Hannover, Germany in May 2011 for one week.
Ø Prof. Atmaram Shelke and Prof. Umesh S. Aswar participated in UGC Refresher Course on ‘Legal Research and Writing Skills’ organized by Indian Law Institute, New Delhi in February 2011.

18.Community services:
Ø Legal advice sessions and Legal Aid camps are held on regular basis by the Legal Aid & Legal Literacy Cell of the Institute where students and teachers visit rural areas and help the people in accessing justice and advice them on legal issues.
Ø A Legal Aid Centre already established in Pirangut village under the research project of Community lawyering. It is providing better guidance and assistance to the local people of that village. Faculty in-charge and students visit the centre every Saturday and provide legal counseling to the villagers.
Ø A Socio-Legal Survey had also been carried out in that village.
Ø Lecture Series in Pirangut by experts on alternate Saturdays.
Ø Service learning as part of curricular activities are conducted to groom the students.
Ø Outreach program through Inter-institute expertise sharing started
Ø Collaboration with SOFOSH (Society of Friends of the Sassoon Hospitals) to provide legal aid to victims and needy.
Ø Prof. Shubhada Pednekar and Prof. Santosh Aghav delivered a Public lecture to Para-Legal Volunteers at Shivajinagar District Court, Pune on 15th March 2011.
Ø Dr. Shashikala Gurpur on Panel of State level Workshop PCPNDT organized by YASHADA on 9th April 2011.
Ø In-house Cell Activities: Symbiosis Law School has different Cells which help in the ethical & intellectual development of the students by conducting various community services and human rights activities. The various cells of the institute are Human Rights Cell, Legal Aid and Legal Literacy Cell, International Cell, ECOCON, LAWECON and Techlegal cell. During the Academic Year 2010-11, a week-long Film Festival called ‘Panorama’ was held as a combined Cell activity in which films related to the theme of each Cell was screened in the Law School Auditorium. The reports of the cell activities for the Academic Year 2010-11 are enclosed.

Symbiosis Law School has a well equipped library armed with the collection of the latest books in all realms of law, social sciences and management. It also boasts of a wide collection of journals, periodicals, magazines and reports including the U.S Supreme Court Reports and many more are being added periodically. It also provides for inter-library borrowing arrangements with many libraries like the British Council Library, American Information Resource Center, the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, and other reputed law schools in the country. The library is also equipped with several legal databases viz. Westlaw International, Lexis Nexis, SCC Online, Manupatra, Hein Online, EBSCO and Index to legal Periodicals. JSTOR and Social Science Resource Network (SSRN) have been proposed.

25.Computerization of administration and the process of admissions and examination results, issue of certificates:
Ø Implementation of ERP in progress.
Ø Computerization of Admission and Group Discussion – Personal Interview process was done. New Admission Software being developed for the GD-PI Process and it was successfully implemented for the admission process for the new Academic Year 2010-11.

30.Activities and support from the Alumni Association:
An Alumni Meet was held on 3rd April 201 in Vishwabhavan Auditorium, Pune to interact, to share their valuable knowledge and experience for the benefit of the students presently studying. Around 40 alumni attended the Meet from various parts of India along with the SLS faculty, staff & student representatives of Student Council. Mr. Luther Rangreji, Legal Advisor to Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India, who is an alumni of Symbiosis Law School of 1987 - 1992 batch was the Chief Guest for the function.

35.Student achievements and awards:
a) Sweden India Nobel Memorial Quiz winners. SLS team comprised of Raghav N. C., Sachin Ravi and George Mathew
b) Student Council of Symbiosis Law School, Pune was constituted on 6th September 2010. President – Mr. Kartik Maheshwari, Vice-Presidents – Mr. Raghav N. C. & Ms. Adeeba Mujahid and Executive Committee members were designated after being nominated by the faculty members.
c) Symbhav’11 – Cultural Fest of SLS was held from 25th – 27th February 2011. It was inaugurated on 25th February 2011 in Vishwabhavan Auditorium by Mr. Shatrughan Sinha, renowned Bollywood actor & Mr. Pahalaj Nihalani, a well known Film Producer. Symbhav was a grand success with a sponsorship of Rs. 42 Lakhs and Rs. 9 Lakhs in kind. Symbhav’11 received an overwhelming response all over the country as well as the SAARC Nations with participation in various literary, legal events as well as music, arts and sports. The fest hosted 36 exciting events, ranging from debates, music to sporting events, testing the participant’s wit, grit, knowledge, and fitness, both mental as well as physical. A closing ceremony was held on 27th February 2011 in SIMS Auditorium, Khadki, which was graced by Ms. Sridevi Kapoor, bollywood actress and Mr. Boney Kapoor, Film Producer. Three Pronites were also organized on all the three days where ‘Junkyard groove’, a band from Chennai performed on 25th February 2011, Sivamani, famous percussionist performed on 26th February 2011 and the finale was held on 27th February 2011 at Raga Lawns, Koregaon Park, where three bands, ‘Them Clones’, ‘Niladri Kumar with Sitar Funk’ and ‘Jalebee Cartel’ performed .
d) Ms. Amruta Yeravdekar, I Year BBA Ll.B. and Ms. Pooranima Hariharan III Year BBA LL.B. were selected for the student exchange programme under the DAAD – German Academic Exchange Service. They visited Leibniz University of Hannover, Germany for two months from May 2010 to July 2010.
e) Ms. Shipra Venkatesh and Ms. Ramya were selected for the exchange programme under DAAD. They visited University of Hannover, Germany from mid-October 2010 to 1st week of January 2011.
f) Two students from Symbiosis Law School will be visiting Leibniz University of Hannover, Germany from May to July 2011 under the DAAD exchange programme. The students are Prabuddha Sharma and Varuna Bhanrale.
g) Mr. Sohaib Jadalla Bushra Badawi, LL.M. II Year student and Ms. Tanya Rana of V Year BBA LL.B. participated in the 1st International and Comparative Human Rights Law Practicum organized by IGNOU School of Law, New Delhi from 20th December 2010 to 6th January 2011.
h) Mr. Abhay Anturkar attended 13th IASC International Conference along with Prof. Yuvraj Patil from 10th – 14th January 2011 in Hyderabad.
i) Mr. Saswat Subasit, Mr. Srideep Mishra and Ms. Neha Dass participated in First National Conference on Free Legal Aid and Clinical Legal education in India organized by NUJS, Kolkata from 18th – 20th February 2011 along with Prof. Ashish Deshpande.
j) Mr. Saswat Subasit and Ms. Awani Yaduwanshi participated and presented a paper at the First GNLU International Conference on Trade & Competition Law organized by Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar on 5th & 6th March 2011.
k) Three students have been selected for the International Law Competition, ‘Youth for Peace’ to be held in May 2011 in Minsk, Belarus. The students who have been selected are Mr. Raghav Chakravarthy, Mr. Himanshu Agarwal and Rahul Hemrajani.
l) On 4th March 2011, Nani A. Palkhivala Elocution Competition was held in SLS Auditorium in which 5 Law colleges participated.
m) Moot Courts - This year has seen some very creditable performances in Moot Courts from the students of Symbiosis Law School. In addition, we had a host of wins at the State level.
n) 10th Surana & Surana International Technology Moot Court Competition was also organized in collaboration with Surana & Surana International Attorneys, Chennai from 26th – 28th February 2010. 34 teams including 7 National Law School participated.
o) 3rd B. Krishna Memorial National IPR Moot Court Competition in association with Krishna & Saurastri Associates, Bangalore was held from 11th – 13th March 2011 which received 13 registrations including leading National Law Schools.
p) The students of Symbiosis Law School, Pune have brought many laurels in various other cultural activities, quizzes, debates, model united nation competitions and sports. The details are enclosed.
36.Activities of the Guidance and Counseling unit:
Ø Students are provided remedial teaching by the faculty members to overcome the backlogs in various subjects through Academic Success Program. Prof. Abhijit Vasmatkar is the faculty in-charge of the Academic Success Program and Ms. Aparna Kalita & Prof. Rajkuwar Shinde coordinates the Program.

With cut throat competition among the law schools rising year after year, placements have occupied a vital position in this race. Campus Recruitments have gone on to become a decisive factor for colleges to be at the apex.
Symbiosis Law School, Pune in this endeavour has left no stone unturned to secure bright future for its spanking legal minds. We at SLS have a full-fledged student cum faculty body working towards placements as well as internship opportunities available in the national as well as the international legal arena.
The Cell working round the year organizes guest lectures, workshops and training sessions for the students enabling them to have an edge in the legal doyen.
Having had a successful academic year 2010-2011, the Cell had managed to secure jobs for a comprehensive portion of the final year Batch. Besides this, the internship cycle is moving on in full swing and numerous students are gaining on field experience during their midterm vacations.
Industrial experience has gone on to become an indispensible element in a law student’s journey. The Cell, in this endeavour has made all possible efforts in bringing corporate giants to the thresh hold of Symbiosis Law School, Pune
