Symbiosis Law School, Pune organized a guest lecture for the Fourth Year BALLB and BBALLB students in the subject of Trade in Intellectual Property to be delivered by Dr. Swapna Sundar, CEO, IP Dome, Chennai. The special guest lecture was conducted on the 12th February 2016 by Ms. Swapna Sundar and approximately 150 students attended the said session.
The topic of the session was Agreement on Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights and India’s Position. The resource person explained the background in which the Agreement was adopted at the 8th Uruguay Round of the GATT negotiations which led to the adoption of WTO. The resource person explained the position of India prior to signing of the TRIPs Agreement and after signing of it. The scope of the TRIPs Agreement was also explained and the implication of the provisions on India was discussed. The students were interactive and gained a lot of insight through the session.
