Symbiosis law school has a Research Committee for facilitating research. Apart from this, symbiosis law school publishes six researched journals where both the faculty and students get an opportunity to publish their researched articles. The College has a well-equipped library covering a range of subjects. The library has a computer section dealing with on-line journals like Westlaw, Manupatra, SCC On line and Lexis-Nexis. Both faculty and students have been provided with free Internet facility. The Campus has been made partially Wi-Fi so as to facilitate research activities.
Research Projects:-
A research project on Community Lawyering and Legal Aid has been implemented in collaboration with Community Legal Resource Network (CLRN), City University of New York (CUNY) School of Law, USA. A permanent Legal Aid Centre has been set up in Pirangut Village. - Ongoing

• Centre for Police Research, Pune – Some of the faculty members of symbiosis law school delivered a series of lectures on handwriting analysis, criminal justice, policing and social responsibility, legal obligations, criminal psychology, stress management, women and law, constitutional law and criminal administration system. The institute conducts various seminars, workshops in collaboration with the police department of Pune city.
• Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India - symbiosis law school had conducted a National seminar on “Policy on Criminal Justice System in India” in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs. The Seminar was attended by lawyers, judges, police officers, academicians and social workers. The students of symbiosis law school made a presentation on the reforms that need to be made in various criminal laws and also submitted a compilation of the same to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
• Women in governance - The students of the Legal Aid & Legal Literacy Cell had conducted a research based survey on the role of women at grass root governance, which had helped the ministry in its research on the said topic.
• Samabhavana – symbiosis law school is conducting a research project on “Human Rights and Sexuality”. in collaboration with this NGO.
• International Collaborations - The institute also has various collaborative research oriented activities with some international universities.
• Erasmus Mundus Consortium - symbiosis law school is recognized as the core Partner of the Erasmus Mundus Consortium, which consists of Hanover University Germany, Rouen Le Havre Universities, France, Lisbon University, Portugal and two non-European Universities.
In pursuance of the above, students of symbiosis law school visited Hanover University, Germany in the month of May, 2006. The students from Germany have visited symbiosis law school in the month of September 2007. Both student groups also jointly undertaken seminars and workshops on selected Legal themes. Further, a PG student completed her term here for transfer of credits. The faculty of symbiosis law school have guided and facilitated the process.
Prof. Herve Suxe, a research scholar from Rouen University France visited symbiosis law school from 7th August 2006 to 31st August 2006, and conducted lectures in French Language and French Legal System.
Mr. Martin Gross, the Project Manger visited Symbiosis from 19th Dec 06. to 5th Feb.2007, engaged classroom sessions in the history of European Union, European Courts & legal system. Two Professors are expected to visit symbiosis law school in January 2008.
• Orebro University, Sweden: Symbiosis Law School is also a partner with Orebro University, Sweden. At present the program involves faculty exchange between the two Universities. The exchange program started with the visit of Prof. Catarina Bartholdson to Symbiosis law school in March 2006, and Dr. Marta Johanson engaged lectures on the speech and in June 2007. Symbiosis law school reciprocated by sending Prof. Shashikant Hajare in April 2006, and Prof. Aruna Sampath in April 2007.
• Symbiosis law school will receive Dr Rebecca Todd, a Fulbright Scholar in January 2008, for 6 months. Dr Rebecca will conduct courses, workshops and lectures alongside facilitating research programs
• Others - Apart from the above mentioned activities the institute has various upcoming projects (Sussex University, Symbiosis Fulbright Scholar Program and King’s College, London, USEFI, Cardiff University, UK). A Memorandum of Understanding is signed with the University of Dundee, UK.
