OBJECTIVE
LL.M: The highlight of this programme is its emphasis on an interdisciplinary approach in the study of law and research orientation by underlining the relevance of research methodology with utmost technical precision and scientific sophistication. The student has the option of a cafeteria approach in terms of specialization, cross specialization courses combining innovation, cutting edge legal acumen and theoretical insights

*A specialization will be offered subject to minimum 20 admissions.

Reservation of Seats
  1. Within the Sanctioned intake:

  • SC: 15%

  • ST: 7.5%

  • Management Seats 15 %

  • Physically Handicapped 3%

  • Serving/Retired Defence Personnel and their Children: 5 %

 

  1. Over and above the Sanctioned intake:

  • Kashmiri Migrants: 2 seats per programme

  • International Students- 15%

(including PIO & NRI)

Sports Quota: 2 seats per program(subject to the Board of Management’s approval)

ELIGIBILITY

Three Years/ Five Years LL.B. Degree or equivalent degree from any Indian or Foreign University recognized by University Grants Commission with at least 50% marks or equivalent grade. (45% for SC/ST)

Performance in the qualifying UG examination, Group Discussion, Personal Interview and a writing sample.

EXAMINATION & METHOD OF ASSESSMENT

  • PG Programme will offer total 80 credits

  • Each credit is defined as 15 hours of teaching including tutorial,
    seminar presentation, library hours, & consultation.

  • 1 credit is equivalent to 25 marks

Internal assessment will be for 60% and external assessment will be for 40% for all programs. Dissertation will be evaluated 100% externally. Dissertation will be equivalent to four compulsory courses. Internship and Advanced Research Methods will be evaluated 100% internally.

Methodology of Internal Assessment will be at least 4 components from the following list of assessment methods

STANDARD OF PASSING
A student has to pass both internal & external exam separately. The grade F in individual head (internal & external) will be considered as fail. A student will be eligible for award of degree if he/she obtains minimum 2.00 CGPA at the end of 4 semesters.

AWARD OF DEGREE
The degree will be awarded at the end of 4th semester by taking into consideration the performance of all the 4 semester examinations and the subjects taken from specialization groups.

A student will be awarded a degree in a particular specialization if he/she has opted for 4 or more courses (24 credits) from a particular Optional/Specialization group.

 

A student will be awarded a degree in a particular specialization along with International/ Global Legal Studies if he/she has opted for 4 courses from a particular optional/specialization group (24 credits) and 3 courses (18 credits) from International Global Legal Studies specialization group.

 

A student opting for a cafeteria approach will be awarded a general LL.M degree
